FIFA has announced the initial list of 23 players who will be competing for the FIFA player of the Year (Ballon d’Or Award) 2015 in Zurich, Switzerland on 11 January 2015. Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Suarez are widely tipped to be top 3 front runners for this years prestigous award.
This is the time of the year when discussion about who will win “FIFA player of the year” award and FIFA has already announced shortlist of 23 players who will be contesting for the award this year. The ballon dor ceremony will take on in Zurich, Switzerland on Monday, 11th January 2015 where several award winners will be announced.
Here is the shortlist of players announced for the Ballon D’or Award 2015. This list will be trimmed down to top 3 players before the ceremony after the voting has been finalized. Every national team coach, captain and renouned football jounalists will be voting and once the voting period is over FIFA Will announce the top 3 players a week before the ceremony while the winner will be announced during traditional player of the year gala.
When The Top 3 Nominees Will Be Announced:
FIFA usually announce the top 3 nominees 1 month before the ceremony so we can expect top 3 players for FIFA Ballon d’Or to be named in second week of december.
It is highly likely that Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo will be in the running for this years Ballon d’Or award. While Messi’s performances last season where he contributed 56 goals and helped Barcelona win the treble and reach Copa America final with Argentina might be enough to earn him his 5th Ballon d’Or Award. All this will be revealed on 11th January 2015
